Eligibility

All applicants for accommodation at Feros Village Bangalow need to be assessed by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) as being in need of residential high care.

ACATs help older people and their carers work out what kind of care will best meet their needs when they are no longer able to manage at home without assistance. Click here for more information on the role of ACATs.

To access your local ACAT contact either the Commonwealth Carelink Centre on 1800 052 222 or the Aged Care Information Line on 1800 500 853.

Feros Care considers the ACAT assessment in consultation with prospective residents, their carer(s), significant others and health professionals in developing individualised care plans.

Affordability

Basic Daily Care Fee

All residents are required to pay a basic daily care fee. This fee covers daily living expenses at the village including meals, laundry, basic amenities, nursing and personal care.

Feros Care is obliged to adhere to Commonwealth Government formulas for maximum daily fees determined by pensioner status and indexed every six months according to pension increases.

Current fee information is available on the Commonwealth Government website or by contacting our Finance Manager on (07) 5669 0555.

Daily Income-Tested Fee

Permanent village residents may be asked to pay a daily income-tested fee depending on their income level and care requirements. The amount paid depends on the outcome of an asset assessment conducted by Centrelink or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

Residents seeking financial assistance must complete an Assets Assessment Form available from our Director of Clinical Services. This assessment must be completed at the time of negotiating entry into the village.

Current fee information is available on the Commonwealth Government website or by contacting our Finance Manager on (07) 5669 0555.

Accommodation Charge

Residents will be asked to contribute towards the cost of their accommodation by paying an accommodation charge or an equivalent periodical payment. A resident will only be asked to pay an accommodation charge if their assets exceed a predetermined amount set by the Commonwealth Government.

As with the Daily Income-Tested Fee, assistance with meeting accommodation charges is subject to the completion of an Assets Assessment Form to be assessed by Centrelink or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

For more information on accommodation bonds visit the Commonwealth Government website or contact our Finance Manager on (07) 5669 0555.

Payment Arrangements

Fees and charges are payable fortnightly and in advance.

A direct debit arrangement where fees are deducted fortnightly from a nominated bank account is the preferred method of payment. Feros Care also accepts credit card, cheques or cash payments.

Any outstanding Accommodation Charge amounts on the day of permanent admission to the village will incur a daily interest charge.

Talk with our Finance Manager on (07) 5669 0555 to establish the payment arrangements that work best for you and your family.

Feros Care recommends all prospective residents consult a qualified and independent financial advisor (Financial Advice) prior to signing a Residential Care Agreement.
