Location

Service Description

In-home respite involves a qualifed Feros Care worker assisting a senior or person with a disability in their own home.

Our service provides a carer with up to 5 hours per week of free time to support them in maintaining their important caring role.

In-home respite can be used in conjunction with other services including day centre, home host and residential respite.

Planned and emergency in-home respite is also available.

Care Package

Our care package includes:

  • comprehensive care planning and ongoing assessments
  • up to 5 hours per week of in-home respite arranged at times required by the carer
  • assistance with personal care including showering, dressing, grooming, hygiene, meals and eating, rehabilitation, medications, some wound dressing and communication aides
  • meal preparation
  • cleaning and light housekeeping
  • assistance with personal laundry
  • outings and shopping
  • visiting and socialising

Eligibility

All seniors who require assistance with daily living and whose main carer is a working family member or friend are eligible for this service.

Working is defined as participating in or looking for paid work, undergoing training, study or volunteering as a means to finding meaningful employment.

Feros Care also has services for non-working carers. Just talk to our Respite Care Team on 1300 763 583.

Eligibility is assessed by a qualified Feros Care Manager in consultation with the carer(s), prospective care-recipient and significant others.

Easy Access Steps

THINK

Think about what support you need to continue caring for your loved-one. How many hours a week would help you keep up with other commitments? Would an in-home respite service work well for you and your loved-one?

RING

Ring our Respite Care Team on 1300 763 583. You will be allocated a Feros Care Manager who will assess your respite needs and outline eligibility and assessment requirements. Arrangements can also be made to visit the day centre to try out the service.

DECIDE

Our Feros Care Manager will answer any questions you may have about the service including fees and care planning. Discuss your decision with family and friends. Review the care plan and sign the Care-Recipient Agreement which outlines the terms and conditions of service delivery.

BOOK

Book the respite hours and days you need with your Feros Care Manager.

RECEIVE

Prepare your loved-one for their respite experience and look forward to an improved quality of life for you and your loved-one.

Value Adding

The following services may be available upon request for an additional fee:

  • respite services provided on the weekend or public holidays
  • transport outside designated shires
  • some planned activities and outings

Affordability

The Feros In-Home Respite is subsidised by the Commonwealth Government under the National Respite for Carers Program.

Each occasion of service up to 5 hours of respite care costs $15 per visit.

Allowances and subsidies are available for those families who are financially or socially disadvantaged.

A direct debit arrangement where fees are deducted fortnightly from a nominated bank account is the preferred method of payment. Feros Care also accepts credit card, cheques or cash payments.
