Associate Professor Kathy Heathcote is an experienced research and teaching academic with expertise in the fields of clinical and population health epidemiology, and evidence-based practice. Kathy has worked in both the health service and academic settings. She is trained in general nursing and midwifery, has a Master of Public Health, a Diploma of Applied Epidemiology, a PhD in trauma epidemiology, and is a graduate of the Women and Leadership Australia (WLA) Advanced Leadership Program.
Kathy was instrumental in developing the evidence-based practice course in the post-graduate clinical medicine program at Griffith University. She also currently chairs the Expert Clinical Advisory Panel for Aspire4Life, a community-based not-for-profit providing aged care assessment services. Elsewhere, she supports public health research in developing bids for large collaborative research centres.
Joining the Feros Board after a rich history of community service in Byron Bay, Kathy leverages her professional expertise and lived experience caring for senior family members. She supports the ongoing legislative reforms to the aged care system and is dedicated to ensuring infection prevention and control principles are at the forefront of Feros’ clinical care.
Kathy lives in Byron Bay with her husband Alan and beloved golden retriever. Their son, Nicholas, lives and studies in Sydney and loves to visit his family in Byron Bay.
