Dr Kim Forrester is a registered nurse and barrister-at-law. She holds a Master of Laws (Advanced) and a PhD, with a clinical background including intensive and coronary care nursing. Previously Kim served as a board member on the Metro North Hospital and Health Service Board from 2013 to 2024 and Deputy Chair from 2016, as well as Chair of the Board Safety and Quality Committee.

A foundation academic in the School of Medicine at Griffith University, Kim established the Masters in Emergency Nursing Program. She was also an Associate Professor at Bond University teaching health law and is a member of the Australian College of Nursing.

Kim’s areas of legal practice include coroner’s inquests, professional regulation, and child protection, holding the position of Assistant Commissioner (legal) on the Health Quality Complaints Commission from 2006 to 2009. Appointed as Legal Member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal in 2020, she has also been a Member of the Nursing Panel of Assessors on the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) since 2015.

In addition, Kim publishes in the area of health law and has written a number of chapters in legal and health text.

In her spare time Kim enjoys staying active, enjoys swimming, catching up with friends and spending precious time with her family.
