Moving into residential aged care posed a significant lifestyle adjustment for 78-year-old James (Jim) Woodford. When he heard about the Healthy Me, Healthy Community (HMHC) program, Jim was keen to find out more information so he could establish how this free 15-week social wellbeing program could help him build connections within his local community.
In 2019, Sengo arrived in Australia as a refugee from Congo in East Africa. As he had a disability and spoke limited English, he experienced feelings of isolation and detachment. Despite these challenges, Sengo persevered and has not only become an engaged and respected member of the community, but has even started his own successful business!
Earlier this year, Feros Care introduced its inaugural work experience program in South Australia. The program is designed to build confidence, empower individuals with a disability to pursue employment opportunities, and set them up with the tools to thrive in their line of work.
