Salary Packaging

One of the biggest employee benefits at Feros Care is the option to salary package via the AccessPay platform.

How does salary packaging work?

What this means is that staff can use up to $15,900 of their pre-taxed annual salary to pay for everyday expenses, and up to $2,650 of their pre-taxed annual salary to pay for meals and entertainment. Because the salary packaging money is deducted first and then tax is calculated on the remaining amount, meaning our team members pay less tax and have more in the kitty to spend on the things they love.

What can I use salary packaging for?

Salary packaging not only saves money but is an easy and convenient way to pay. The $15,900 for everyday expenses can be put towards ongoing deductions such as a mortgage or rent, credit card and personal loan payments, school fees, or even regular daily items such as groceries and petrol. The meals and entertainment allocation of $2,650 makes dining out with family and friends at cafés and restaurants much more affordable.

Flexible ways to use your salary packaging funds

There’s also the option to keep your salary packaging flexible with a salary packaging and meals and entertainment card. Providing instant access to your salary packaging funds, you’ll never be out of pocket, you just pay as you go. It’s a 2-in-1 card, so if you’re salary packaging both living expenses and meal entertainment, they’ll be combined on the same card which can be used anywhere Mastercard® prepaid cards are accepted.

Using salary packaging for rent or mortgage

The option to salary package everyday purchases can save our team members a significant sum of money each year. Feros employees can use $15,900 of their pre-tax salary for regular fixed amount expenses, such as a mortgage or rent, personal loan repayments, and even school fees. Or, if an employee has expenses but the amount varies, or expenses that aren’t paid regularly, they can still include these in their salary packaging via a reimbursement system.

Feros Care team member Ammorie has enjoyed the financial gains of salary packaging first-hand.

It has lowered my income tax and increased my tax return, therefore increasing my take-home pay packet which is fantastic! It’s been especially beneficial for my biggest financial obligation – my mortgage. Payments are completely tax free so why wouldn’t I take advantage of such an amazing employee perk.

Ammorie is just one of the many Feros team members reaping the monetary rewards by paying her biggest bills with pre-tax dollars.

Using salary packaging for meals and entertainment

With financial commitments and the increasing cost of living, non-essential spending like eating out or grabbing a quick coffee can fall by the wayside. To help Feros Care team members stretch their pay packets further, we offer meal entertainment salary packaging. This allows people to use up to $2,650 of their pre-tax income per Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) year, in addition to their tax-free limit for living expenses. It can be spent on dining at restaurants, cafés, pubs, clubs, or fast food, hiring professional caterers to prepare and serve food and drinks, attending a ball, gala event or charity dinner, and taxi fares to and from the restaurant or event.

Feros team member Ammorie is certainly making the most of this popular employee perk.

“I get to enjoy a daily coffee or splurge on the hubby with a dinner-date. Plus, I have even put the benefit towards four cruises, giving a fresh meaning to ‘exploring new horizons!’”

This shows just how far meal and entertainment packaging can go, helping our team members experience things that were previously out of their budget.
