Author of this exquisite lilt “I have had a late-night acquaintance with a poem. I lost myself but I found my poem”, Margaret Sparks returns to the Gran Slam stage in 2020 to look over us and out for us. A natural Mother Hen, Margaret is always checking on people’s needs. She describes herself as a sophisticated hippie and passionate environmentalist (hello tautology). Margaret is a published writer of memoirs and a well-travelled blazer of life. She inspires us with her joyful presence and attention to detail.

I am a House

I am a House with an open door

Fresh air cleans all ugly thoughts words and deeds

I shall listen To all speech and heed

My fence is confidentiality of the needs Of myself ,others, animals and planet

My house is a Open mind

The colours of my front yard flowers are

like our emotions Black or bright yellow just as thoughts endow

Acceptance is my solid pathway

And the large shiny windows are a look into my Soul – open and clear

Inside my house of soft pastel colours,

are painting sculptures and spiritual writings to remind me of the sublime

My roof is the solid defender of truth Hope Love and Charity for all time

My house is symbolic of all the embodiment that learning and experience has brought to my mind.
