At Feros Care, we believe life is all about connection. That’s why we created the free In Great Company community visitor program, offering home visits from our friendly, reliable and supportive team of volunteers.
Whether it’s sharing stories, enjoying a cup of tea together, or simply having someone to chat with, a volunteer visit brings companionship, joy, and a sense of community right to your home. Also, they are more than happy to help with small tasks around the home and garden, accompany you to an appointment, or even help you with technology!
What can I do with my community volunteer?
Our In Great Company volunteers offer a wealth of skills and interests, making the opportunities endless. Here’s a snapshot to guide you:
- play games, chat over a cuppa, or simply spend time together in your home
- help you to rekindle a hobby you once enjoyed
- help you to learn to use technology to connect with your family and community
- spend quality time with you while your carer has a break
- help with small tasks around the home and garden, such as tidying, washing dishes, gardening, sorting out those cupboards, or cooking together
- accompanying or transporting you to appointments, social outings, or other outdoor activities.

How do I request a community volunteer visit?
First up, we need to understand your interests and hobbies. Then, we’ll match you with a friendly In Great Company volunteer who shares similar interests to you.
Signing up to meet your volunteer is easy. All you need to do is provide us with your details, tell us what you enjoy doing, and if there is anything you’d like help with. We’ll get to work finding a likeminded volunteer, and offer a ‘meet and greet’ if you’d like to get to know them before deciding to proceed.
We also look after your safety at home by ensuring that all community volunteer visitors are police-checked, trained to the highest standards, and have their registered identification badge when they arrive at your home.
Am I eligible?
The In Great Company program is available along the East Coast of Australia in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and ACT.
You can access the program if you are aged 65+ and are;
- currently receiving Home Care Package services and would like more access to the community or enjoy more companionship; or
- on the national waitlist for a Home Care Package; or
- living in an Australian Government-funded residential aged care facility
If you have received a letter from your Aged Care Assessment Team including the words ‘you are approved as eligible’, then you can apply to be matched with a Feros Care volunteer as part of our In Great Company program.
