Emerging Writer/Director Katie Willow Tonkin is a proud Indigenous Wiradjuri woman based in the Northern Rivers and a mother to 12-year-old Triplets. Completed her Certificate IV in Screen and Media at Kingscliff TAFE, Katie is currently studying a Diploma of Screen and Media. In late 2020 Katie wrote and directed two short drama’s -Generations and Drama in the Line. Katie was selected for the 2021 Screenworks Writer’s room Pathway after submitting an excerpt from her short movie Generations, giving her the opportunity to spend a week in a writer’s room. Katie has made two short movies, currently working on a 6 Episode Horror web series and a Feature film with both Drama and Horror elements. Katie is driven and excited to create and work on Indigenous/Horror films with female leads, as a Writer and Director, bringing powerful Australian stories close to her heart, to life. Yet she is also keen to work with established filmmakers to learn the tools to do so. Excited about the path ahead, Katie is hoping to not only work on larger productions in the Northern Rivers but to also take her career overseas in the future.

Emerging filmmaker/Editor Molly Phillips is based in the Northern Rivers of NSW. Since a young age, Molly has always had an avid and keen interest in the filmmaking industry. Her main interest is in postproduction but if she can get her hands on a camera she will. After completing her Certificate III in 2019, Molly went out into the freelance world and started creating films for clients. She is now back at TAFE completing a diploma of screen and media to learn more. In 2020, she got the opportunity to go back to high school and film Kingscliff High Schools CAPA (Creative and Performing Arts) production as well as a Grease production they did. As an emerging filmmaker Molly is keen to work with established filmmakers to learn more and to gain more industry experience.
