Would you like to move more confidently around your home, enhance your fitness, get to know like-minded people, and add some fun to your life? Or maybe you’re just itching to break out of your usual routine and try something new? Our ten-week Allied Health Groups, including a pre-and-post-assessment, could be the answer!

Designed to help you explore and participate in the physical activities you enjoy, we offer three exercise and movement-focused programs – with a healthy dose of friendship thrown in for good measure.

Facilitated by aged care physiotherapists and exercise physiologists who truly understand your needs, these groups can improve mobility, strength, balance, mental health, and overall wellbeing to help you live your best, bold life.

Full of fun and smiles, you can even choose to sign up privately if you’re not a Feros Care Home Care Package (HCP) or Commonwealth Home Support Services (CHSP) client!

What Allied Health Groups are on offer?

How does it work?

  1. Step one

Reach out to our friendly team by submitting an enquiry below, MyFeros Portal or calling 1300 418 418. If required, we will connect you with My Aged Care and help you register for our government-subsidised Allied Health services.

  2. Step two

One of our friendly team members will be in touch to complete a one-on-one functional pre-assessment. If recommended by our Allied Health clinician, you may need to obtain medical clearance for your GP.

  3. Step three

Meet at the agreed location on the scheduled dates and times of the Allied Health Groups. If you’re a Home Care Package (HCP) or Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) client, you may even be able to use your funding to organise transport!

  4. Step four

The fun begins! Experience how our Allied Health Group sessions can help you live a healthier, happier, and better-connected life.

After the eight weeks, a member of our friendly team will reach out again to complete a post-program assessment so you can see any progress you’ve made! We can also discuss recommendations to continue with additional groups or other Allied Health Services.

Why is staying active so important?

Exercise has many proven health benefits including falls prevention, pain management, better bone health, and improved mental wellbeing to name a few. It can also reduce the risk of chronic disease, enhance independence, and provide a connection to community.

Research shows that only around one in ten Australians over the age of 50 exercises enough to gain any cardiovascular benefit. Plus, some estimates suggest that about half of the physical decline associated with ageing may be due to a lack of physical activity.

The silver lining is that it’s never too late to start! The amazing human body responds to exercise, no matter what its age, to deliver equally amazing benefits.

Frequently asked questions

Got a question about Allied Health Groups?

How do I know if I’m eligible?

You may be eligible to join a Feros Care Allied Health Group if you are over the age of 65 (or 50 if you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander) and would like to get out and about with like-minded people.

You must be independently mobile (can be using an aid) and consent to a pre-screening assessment by a Feros Care exercise physiologist or physiotherapist. In some cases, a doctor’s clearance may be required.

How much does it cost?

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible to include Allied Health Groups as a part of your Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) or Home Care Package (HCP), or other funding.

Alternatively, if you meet the above criteria but are not yet a Feros Care client, you can still join an Allied Health Group privately. To discuss your options, please call us on 1300 418 418.
