Government Funded Personal Alarms

A personal alarm and other technology aids can make life at home so much easier. You can stay connected with family and friends using social media, check in with health professionals over the phone or via remote monitoring, install the latest personal alert systems, request emergency assistance via an emergency alert, or wear a personal alarm device.

This means you can move around your home with confidence, and give your loved ones added peace of mind.

The great news is that a number of these products can be government funded through programs, such as a Home Care Package (HCP), Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), or Short Term Restorative Care. This includes the highly sought-after government funded personal alarm as well as fall detectors. If you are not eligible for any of these programs or are still on the waiting list, then you can also access these products and services privately.

Your Wellbeing Manager will work with you to understand what your goals are, and they will suggest ways that technology (like a personal alarm) might be able to help you stay healthy, active, and living in your own home.

Once you have chosen your preferred product or service, these can be organised through your program with the help of your Wellbeing Manager.

Home Care Package

If you have already been approved, you can access technology products and services such as a personal alarm through your Home Care Package to help you continue living independently.

As a Home Care Package client, you simply need to reach out to your Wellbeing Manager and let them know which product or products you’d like to add to your package.

Your Wellbeing Manager will then put you in contact with the relevant Feros team members to assist you with organising, setting up, and operating your approved alert systems. Alternatively, you can call us on 1300 090 256 and our friendly team can point you in the right direction.

Commonwealth Health Support Program (CHSP)

The Commonwealth Home Support Program may include available funding for technology products and services, like an approved personal alert system. If you are already receiving a CHSP service, all you need to do is reach out to the team and let them know which product or products you’d like to add to your package.

Alternatively, you can call us on 1300 090 256 and our friendly team will be happy to guide you through the process.

Short Term Restorative Care (STRC)

Depending on your circumstances, you might be eligible to apply for technology products and services (including a personal alarm) through Short Term Restorative Care. Short Term Restorative Care is designed to get you moving again after an illness or injury, and helping you live independently in your own home.

As part of the variety of services offered, you can access innovative assistive technologies to keep you safe, monitor your health, or keep you socially connected. To find out if you are eligible please call our friendly aged care experts on 1300 090 256.

Private funding

If you are not receiving funding from any government-subsidised programs, or your program is not able to subsidise the cost of these devices (such as a personal alarm) in your area, you can access them privately.

You don’t have to go through My Aged Care, there are no waiting times, and you can choose the services you want, when you want them.

To find out more about accessing our technology products privately, give us a bell on 1300 090 256.
