Government Funded Technology

Alarms and technology aids can make life at home so much easier. You can stay connected with family and friends using social media, check in with health professionals over the phone or via remote monitoring, and install the latest personal safety aids or wear a personal alarm so you can move with confidence around your home.

The great news is that a number of these products can be funded through government-subsidised programs, such as Home Care Packages, Commonwealth Home Support Program, or Short Term Restorative Care. If you are not eligible for any of these programs or are still on the waiting list, then you can also access these products and services privately.

Your Wellbeing Manager will work with you to understand what your goals are, and they will suggest ways that technology might be able to help you stay healthy, active and living in your own home. You’re in the driver’s seat so it’s your decision what you choose to go ahead with. Once you have chosen your preferred product or service, these can be acquired through your program with the help of your Wellbeing Manager.

Home Care Package

If you have already been approved, you can access technology products and services as part of your Home Care Package. If you are already on a Home Care Package, all you need to do is get in touch with your Wellbeing Manager and advise them of the product you’d like to add to your package. Your Wellbeing Manager will then put you in contact with the relevant persons and assist you along the way. Alternatively, you can call us on 1300 090 256 and our friendly team can point you in the right direction.

Commonwealth Health Support Program (CHSP)

The Commonwealth Home Support Program may include available funding for technology products and services. If you are already receiving a CHSP service, all you need to do is get in touch with your Wellbeing Manager and advise them of the product you’d like to add to your package. Your Wellbeing Manager will then put you in contact with the relevant persons and assist you along the way. Alternatively, you can call us on 1300 090 256 and our friendly team can point you in the right direction.

Short Term Restorative Care (STRC)

Depending on your circumstances, you might be eligible to apply for technology products and services through Short Term Restorative Care. Short Term Restorative Care is designed to help you getting to move and helping you retain your independence. As part of the variety of services offered, you can access innovative assistive technologies to keep you safe, monitor your health, or keep you socially connected. To find out if you are eligible please call our Aged Care advisors on 1300 090 256.

Private funding

If you are currently not receiving funding from any government-subsidised programs, or your program is not able to subsidise the cost of these devices in your area, you can access them privately. You don’t have to go through My Aged Care, there are no waiting times, and you can choose the services you want, when you want them. If you’d like to find out more about private services or how you can access our technology products privately, call us on 1300 090 256.
