Work Experience

Providing real-life work experience in administration for young people with disability

A young person wearing glasses sits behind a laptop. He is speaking with a colleague.

There are few opportunities for young people with disability to gain real-life experience in an administration role.

Our pilot work experience project supported Daniel Millowick to gain administration skills while working with mentors to hone those skills and work on his employment pathway.

In 2023 – 2024 this project will be rolled out across our footprint.

I’ve had great support through Feros Care. People believe in me and then I believe in myself.

It’s given me an insight into what employers think, and what they are willing to change to have someone with a disability work for them.

The biggest thing that employers are scared about is Work, Health & Safety, and the fact that they’re not sure what to do with someone with a disability. So we can link them up to JobAccess, modifications – it’s not like they’re lost by themselves. There’s always supports.
