Our ‘Step 2 Education & Employment Guide for Families’ is the first guide of its kind, developed when Feros Care’s Local Area Coordinators started to notice the barriers experienced by parents and young people with disabilities when transitioning to tertiary, post school education and employment. Feedback from educators identified that many families were approaching the end of the school years without sufficient information to know where to go, and what to do.
The guide includes information for families and their school leavers to better understand pathways to employment; tips about how to start talking with young people about their strengths and aspirations earlier in their school years; and links to community and mainstream supports.
Originally created by our team in the ACT, it has since been adapted for communities in both South Australia and Queensland.
