1,000 Notes of Friendship

Right now, showing seniors we care is so important, and taking just five minutes out of our days is delivering 1,000 reasons to smile.

Capturing many hearts in our communities, our 1,000 Notes of Friendship campaign to help Be Someone For Someone shine a light on loneliness has seen post boxes filling to the brim with personal notes of friendship penned through kind-hearted gestures
and care.

From letters, beautiful cards, poems and drawings, showing others we’re thinking of them during the toughest of times is making a difference, and Feros Care’s (our parent brand) Friendship Ambassador, Karen Smith, and her team of “kindness
warriors” are relishing the opportunity to touch the lives of others.

“I live alone, and I know there’s a lot of seniors out there suffering with loneliness, so the campaign really resonates with me,” Karen said.

“My mother, who’s no longer with us, loved getting cards and it meant a lot to her to know someone was thinking of her. I know the same thing can happen for others if you just write a note to let people know you’re thinking of them.

“Seniors love handwritten notes, and staff are getting a great sense of satisfaction from knowing they can make such a difference in someone’s day.”

Aiming to show 1,000 seniors how much we care through a “long-distance hug”, or even a funny joke, has proven really satisfying in helping others to feel connected and cared for.

Be Someone For Someone tackles loneliness head on

Tackling loneliness head on, we won’t stop at reaching 1,000 seniors, and we dream of establishing as many personal connections as we can for the future.

“We hope that many of these hand-written letters or cards will lead to ongoing ‘Gran Pals’,” said Be Someone For Someone head, Jo Winwood.

“The beauty is that it benefits the writer as well as the recipient – we become more compassionate about others’ situations and that’s a wonderful feeling.”

To get involved, simply write your note, letter, or card of friendship and return it to us. We will personally address and deliver it to seniors living in the community or residential villages.
