Getting ready for International Day of People with Disability 2023
Only 9% of workplaces across Australia employ someone with a disability
This statistic highlights a notable gap in workforce inclusivity and diversity. It underscores the need for a concerted effort across the nation to not only raise awareness but also to implement practical strategies for supporting more people with disabilities into the workforce. Addressing this imbalance is crucial for building more inclusive and representative workplaces.
We’re here to change that
Central to our initiative is the Inclusive Employment Hub, a resource-rich platform designed to revolutionise how disability is perceived and addressed in the workplace. The Hub offers everything from insightful podcasts and practical training materials to inspiring videos. It’s a one-stop shop for resources that will create meaningful change in the workplace. Whether you’re an entrepreneur looking for guidance, an employee seeking support, or an employer keen to see a shift, there’s a resource here for you – direct from our experts, partners and people with a disability making waves in their day-to-day lives.
Fearless Films in the frame
Another key highlight of Feros Care’s efforts is the Fearless Films project, which is a testament to the unique stories of people living with disability, told by them. It features the lives of six individuals who are thriving in their careers, highlighting the vast and often overlooked potential within the disability community. Fearless Films demonstrates the richness of skills and perspectives that individuals with disability can bring to any workplace. It’s a clear example of what’s possible when inclusivity is more than just a concept but a practiced reality.
“The Entrepreneur” Master Shredder featuring Emma Lynam received the Highly Commended award at the Spiritus Short Film Prize during the 2023 Canberra Short Film Festival. This accolade allows us to celebrate Fearless Season 4 not just as a compelling series but now, proudly, as an ‘award-winning’ one.
As we approach the International Day of People with Disability, we’re reminded to not only acknowledge the challenges faced by people with disability but to actively celebrate their achievements and contributions.
Our goal is to forge a future where disability is viewed not as a barrier but as a fundamental component of our diverse workforce
We encourage you to explore our Inclusive Employment Hub to discover these extensive resources and information that can help you foster change in your workplace or community. We are committed to cultivating a work environment that is welcoming and empowering for people with disability, those from diverse backgrounds, and various communities. This Hub serves as your comprehensive guide to achieving these goals.
International Day of People with Disability as a vehicle to advocate, participate, and tirelessly work towards a world where inclusivity is the standard, not the exception
As a proud NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) partner in the community, we specialise in delivering Local Area Coordination services. Our aim is to support individuals with disability live healthy, connected, and fulfilling lives. We receive funding from the NDIS, which enables us to work closely with these individuals, supporting them to effectively implement their plans. Beyond providing direct assistance, our role extends to actively reshaping societal views and creating long-overdue opportunities.
