In-home clinical services tailored specifically to YOU

Need some assistance with your health and wellbeing but don’t know where to start? Would you prefer a clinical health professional to visit your home so that you feel more comfortable? Do you struggle to find the motivation to exercise and move your body (even though you know you should)?

If you answered yes to any (or all) of the above, you’re certainly not alone. At Feros Care, we offer a variety of in-home health services which our clinical health professionals will tailor not only to your health goals, but to you as a person. Beyond assessing your physical capabilities, we go the extra mile to understand what makes you tick, so that you stay motivated to achieve your best.

Getting under the hood

Like all our clinicians, Feros Care physiotherapist Kerry Hardey is passionate about in-home physiotherapy, and tapping into what drives her clients.

“By working with clients in their homes, they are much more likely to continue doing their exercises because they’re in the natural space where they were first shown how. It’s familiar, and their recall is better,” says Kerry.

She also emphasises that to get the best from her clients, it’s crucial to build rapport and ‘get under the hood’.

“We show genuine interest in people’s homes, hobbies, belongings, history, and photographs to build connection. This allows us to form relationships which in turn, aids motivation.”

“You need to be able to inspire and understand someone to optimise their outcomes,” she says, which is exactly how she approached client Darryl’s Clinical Action Plan.

Darryl is an accomplished boxer, who was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

“He told me that boxing was something he had always loved, so we found a way to build it into his program,” says Kerry, who had never actually boxed or used boxing in her programs previously.

“I’m happy to get on YouTube to learn the basics of something they are passionate about so that I can develop an effective Clinical Action Plan,” she says. “If it’s going to boost their enthusiasm and improve results, then I’m all for it.”

A holistic approach

Kerry and our other clinical health professionals have seen excellent results by looking at the bigger picture. There might be something outside of a client’s physical therapy which is inadvertently impacting their potential to achieve their health goals.

“During an initial assessment with another client, she said, ‘my main problem is that I can’t get to the hairdressers because they have steps’. This was affecting how she felt about herself and subsequently, decreasing her drive to exercise. So, I messaged her Wellbeing Manager as we can organise transport and a care worker to attend appointments with our clients.

“It’s all about quality of life and if we can help with that, people are more inclined to give their physio sessions 100%, and continue doing their exercises. It’s a ripple effect and for Hazel, a trip to the hairdressers gave her the lift she needed to truly commit to her physiotherapy.”

The clinical services we can bring to you and their benefits

Feros Care offers a range of in-home clinical care services to aid physical rehabilitation, injury prevention, and overall health and fitness. We treat a myriad of health conditions, including arthritis, chronic pain, mobility issues, falls prevention, traumatic brain injuries, musculoskeletal disorders like scoliosis, osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, vision loss, respiratory conditions like COPD and asthma, cardiovascular conditions like atrial fibrillation, and early onset dementia to name a few.

Hydrotherapy

Our physiotherapists and exercise physiologists provide hydrotherapy which helps to improve strength, flexibility, mobility, and balance. If you have a pool or access to a pool, hydrotherapy is another popular in-home treatment option – especially during summer!

Nursing – in-home and virtual!

Whether you’ve just returned from hospital or need ongoing support with chronic illness or injury, we can support you. Our nurses are happy to travel to your home, plus we also offer a groundbreaking Virtual Nursing program. We can support set-up of portable equipment to record vital signs which are then transmitted to your Feros Care registered nurse (and any other medical practitioners you request).

Other Allied Health Services

In addition, we can connect you with a variety of other in-home health services, from occupational therapy and podiatry, to remedial massage and dietetics.
